News Update 6/10/14

Under 13: The Moneygall/Templederry combination are through to the final of U13 Plate which is expected to be played this Friday.  Fixture details will be updated to this site when confirmed.  As this is our last juvenile game for 2014 all support is welcome.

Under 10: We concluded our U10 season by taking part in The Mick Prior Tournament in Borrisoleigh last Saturday.  We had been successful in this tournament six years ago and had been very close last year.  We had been looking forward to this year’s tournament since our invitation from Borris earlier in the year.
We played the home team in the semi final. This was always going to be a close game as we had played them in Moneygall in August and only a point separated us on a bad wet evening.  However the lovely dry morning this time made for a lovely game of hurling, and suited us a little better this time where two good saves from Andy kept us in the game in the first half.  Our forwards got a couple of great goals in the second half to come out on top and put us in the final.

We played a very strong Drom & Inch team in the final, we had also played them earlier in the season and knew we had a tough task.  This turned out to be the game of the tournament.  We were 2-2 to a 1-0 down at half time, and after some great hurling we came up just short by one point at the final whistle, on a scoreline of 4-3 to 3-5.  It was very disappointing for our players to have been so close again for the second year running.  It was still a proud moment to see Kevin McCormack (grandnephew of the late Mick Prior) lead the team up to receive runners-up medals and once we got back to Supermacs it seemed to take the pain away.
We must thank Borris-Ileigh for inviting us and providing lovely refreshments afterwards.  We thank our coaches for all their work during the year and look forward to next year.

Under 8:
We played two great games of hurling and football against Burgess on Saturday last to finish out our season.  We must thank Burgess for coming over to play us on a cool dry October morning. It was great to conclude the very successful and progressive season we had with this bunch of players with a final outing at our local Supermacs.  We must thank our coaches for all the work put in during the year and look forward to both players and coaches returning in 2015.

Parish League: We had a very busy week to end our season last week.  Our U8/10 Parish League concluded very successfully on Wednesday evening with two very exciting final games where only one score separated the four teams for most of the two finals.  It was great to see all forty four boys and girls part taking in this league for the last six weeks, and to see all the happy faces receiving their medals from Stephen Russell, who we must thank for both presenting the medals and giving his time coaching our U10s & U12s on Saturday mornings during the year.
It was also great to see so many parents and club members in supporting all the kids in the finals.  We must thank our Celebrity Coaches from our senior camogie and hurling teams who helped and coached each of the teams for the last six weeks and really got the best out of each player.  We look forward to seeing them all return in 2015.

Tipperary GAA Draw: We had two prize winners in the October monthly draw held in Roscrea last Friday night.  Congratulations to Seamus Ryan, Drombaun, who was the winner of €500, and to Jackie Davis, Clashagad, who won €200.
