News Update 15/8/16

posted 15 Aug 2016, 13:21 by Moneygall GAA
Under 12: Congrats to our U12 hurlers who beat Newport by 4-6 to 1-5 to win the North U12 B Final in Portroe last Saturday. This was a great all round team effort. We started strongly and our forwards took their chances well, with all our goals coming before half time. Newport attacked our goal for much of the second half, but a combination of some great goalkeeping and strong defending helped to keep our lead intact to the final whistle.
Team: Cian Ryan; Luke Bolger, Niall Madden; Micheál Whyte, Enda Whyte; Vanston Worrell (captain), Andy Hoolan; James Carroll, Conor Quinlan; Thomas Sheedy, Kevin McCormack. Subs: David Toohey, Patrick Sheedy, Tadhg Whyte.

It is expected that our county semi final against either Galtee Rovers or Rosegreen will take place this Saturday afternoon in Boherlahan.

Minor: Our minor hurlers are due to play Kildangan in our last group match this Wednesday at 7pm in Nenagh.

Under 16: We played two matches last week which both ended in narrow defeats. Ballina beat us by 3-7 to 1-10 on Monday night, and Portroe came out on top by 3-12 to 3-10 on Friday. We were then due to play Templederry/Ballinahinch on Monday night, with our last group match to be played next Monday night against Borrisokane in Moneygall.

Under 14: Our involvement in the North Championship recently ended. We are now preparing for the Tim Liffey Memorial Tournament which our club will host in the coming weeks.

Little All Stars: Our Under 6 players travelled to Borrisokane for a hurling blitz last Saturday morning. We played three matches against Ballinahinch, Borrisokane and Roscrea and our team thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

Croke Park: Well done to our U12 hurler and camogie player Alice Maher, who played for Tipperary in the Cumann na mBunscol exhibition match at half time of the All Ireland semi final in Croke Park last Sunday.

EGM: We will hold an EGM in the Séamus Ó Riain Centre on Friday 2nd September at 9pm, to finalise plans for the development of the second playing field. All members are invited and encouraged to attend.

Tickets: Please note that applications for All Ireland Hurling Final tickets can only be accepted from fully paid up club members.

Up Tipp: Well done to the Tipp senior and minor hurlers on their All Ireland semi final victories last Sunday, and good luck to the footballers against Mayo in Croke Park this weekend.

Lotto: Our jackpot has now reached €11300. You can buy your tickets for just €2 each through the Club Lotto section of our website. Many thanks to all our lotto players and promoters for your continued support.
