News Update 11/5/15

posted 11 May 2015, 11:48 by Moneygall GAA
Under 16: Hard luck to the Moneygall/Clonakenny U16 footballers who were beaten by Newport Gaels in the north final in Nenagh last Tuesday night.  We had come out on the right side of a two-point win when the same teams met in the group stages two weeks earlier, but in the final it was Newport Gaels who came out on top on a 1-9 to 1-7 scoreline.  Well done to the team for their performances throughout the campaign, and good luck to Newport Gaels in the county series.

Under 14: Moneygall/Clonakenny will play Ballina in the north quarter final in the football championship this Wednesday evening in St Flannan’s Park.  Throw-in time is fixed for 6.30pm.

The senior team were beaten by Portroe by 0-21 to 0-7 in the county championship group stages on Sunday last in Nenagh.  We now play Portroe again this Sunday afternoon, this time in the first round of the north championship, in Toomevara at 1pm.

Junior: Our last remaining group match in the north league will be at home to Toomevara on the weekend of 24th May.

Minor: Moneygall/Clonakenny minor hurlers gave a very promising display in beating Shinrone at the Shinrone venue on Bank Holiday Monday.  We are looking forward to a few of our injured players returning to action.  The first round of the minor championship will be played soon after the end of the Leaving Cert exams.

Under 10/8/6: Our U10s and U8s both travelled to Shinrone last Thursday evening to play two well-contested hurling challenge matches against Shinrone.  Our U10s then competed in a hurling blitz organised by County Tipperary Games Development in Templederry on Saturday morning, where we played three matches against Ballina, Holycross and Drom Inch.  Our Under 6 Little All-Stars continue to meet every week, on Wednesday evenings at 6.30pm.

Club Lotto: Our jackpot has now reached €7700 for this Tuesday's draw.  You can buy your tickets each week for just €2 each from any of our promoters, or through the Club Lotto section of this website.  Many thanks to all our lotto players and promoters for your continued support
