A new format has been introduced for this year's county senior hurling league.  All 32 senior clubs in the county will contest what will be known as the County Senior Hurling Challenge Cups.  The pairings for Round 1 have been decided by an open draw, and Moneygall will meet Clonoulty Rossmore in St. Flannan's Park on Sunday March 3rd.

The sixteen winners from Round 1 will be paired in Round 2A, and the sixteen teams beaten in Round 1 will be drawn against each other in Round 2B.  Following these rounds there will be eight teams left in each of four sections.  Each section will then play off on a knockout basis from quarter final stage to a final, with a trophy awarded to the winner of each section.
