Our junior hurlers travelled to Templemore to take on mid champions Moycarkey Borris in the county quarter final on Saturday afternoon.  Moneygall were without centre back and captain Stephen Maher from the team that started the north final.  Tadhg Kennedy returned at full-back with Martin Deane switching to the corner and Cathal Kennedy moving to centre back.  Paul O'Brien started at corner forward.

However within a minute of the throw-in Tadhg Kennedy's injury meant he could not continue and Martin Deane returned to full back with Tony O'Connor coming on in the corner.  The physically strong Moycarkey-Borris team dominated the opening stages but Moneygall settled as the half wore on and we trailed 0-5 to 0-4 approaching the twenty minute mark.  But a goal for Moycarkey Borris soon after restored their cushion and by half time they had stretched the lead to 1-10 to 0-6.

Moneygall started the second half with two quick points but from then on it was Moycarkey Borris who dominated.  Barry Ryan, Chris Doughan, Dwayne Collison, Damien Martin and Damien Hogan were also introduced, but a second Moycarkey goal late on wrapped up their win on a 2-14 to 0-8 scoreline.

Team: John King; Martin Deane, Tadhg Kennedy, Michael Hogan; David Gleeson, Cathal Kennedy, Michael Kirwan (0-1); Keith Maher, John Doughan (0-2, frees); Michael Cahill, Tom Toohey (0-1), Brian Teehan (0-1); Billy McCormack, Donal Doughan (0-2, 1 free), Paul O'Brien (0-1).  Subs: Tony O'Connor for Tadhg Kennedy, Barry Ryan for Billy McCormack, Chris Doughan for Michael Cahill, Dwayne Collison for Keith Maher, Damien Martin for Paul O'Brien, Damien Hogan for Michael Hogan.
